What to know.

Classic car transport to Mougins, from anywhere in Europe

Many of the cars entrusted to the workshop come from far away: from Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Monaco or elsewhere in France. Classic car transport is arranged on request, within France and across Europe. The terms are set out in writing before any departure, and nothing leaves without your agreement.

The form above gives us the essentials: the town of departure, the car, the journey and the period you have in mind. The more precise the request, the more precise the answer. Mention anything out of the ordinary: a narrow or steep access, very low ground clearance, a fragile spoiler or side skirts, a car of particular value or rarity.

Running or non-running: what changes

A car that starts, brakes and steers normally is straightforward to load. A car laid up for years, without brakes or engine, or a bodyshell in the middle of a restoration needs suitable loading, which must be planned before departure. Tell us honestly what state it is in: “it was running last year” is worth stating exactly like that.

For a car that no longer runs, please also tell us whether the wheels turn freely and whether the steering responds. These details decide how it can be moved safely.

How should you prepare your car for transport?

A few simple precautions avoid most difficulties at loading and on arrival.

  • A copy of the registration document (V5C in the UK, Fahrzeugausweis in Switzerland) and the papers that travel with the car.
  • Every key, with alarm or immobiliser codes and the starting procedure if it is unusual (battery isolator, choke, fuel pump).
  • A list of known faults: leaks, noises, warning lights, scratches or dents already present.
  • Personal belongings removed from the cabin and the luggage compartment.
  • Accessories listed: hood, hardtop, tonneau cover, spare wheel, tool kit.

Condition report and photographs, at departure and on arrival

At departure, a condition report is drawn up and the car is photographed: bodywork, wheels, glass, interior. On arrival at the workshop it is photographed again and its condition compared with the departure report; any difference is noted at once. These images then join the car’s file, alongside the photographs of key stages sent to you during the work.

From Switzerland or the United Kingdom, both outside the European Union, customs formalities apply. They must be settled before departure, and we raise them with you as soon as you get in touch.

Coordinating transport with the work, and the return journey

Transport is timed around the project. A first estimate can be prepared remotely from photographs and videos; the car is then examined on arrival, before the detailed, itemised quote. To begin, a quote request describes the work you have in mind, and the transport request sets the calendar.

Between the end of the work and the return, or for a season, the car can stay in storage at the workshop. The return follows the same principle: written terms, condition report and photographs. A car bought from the workshop through our classic car sales can be delivered in the same way within France and Europe, or collected in Mougins. The page for our European clients gathers the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Can a non-running car be transported?

Yes, provided you say so in the request. Suitable loading is then planned, and the terms are set out in writing before departure.

Does the car have to leave from my home?

No. It can leave from a garage, a storage facility or any other address: give it precisely, with any access constraints.

How far ahead should I ask for transport?

As soon as your dates take shape. An approximate period is enough to begin; the calendar is then adjusted to the work.

What do the written terms cover?

They set out how the transport will be carried out for your car and your journey. You receive and accept them before any departure; without your agreement, nothing leaves.
