Clients in the Netherlands

Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague or Utrecht. The car heads for the sun; you follow everything from home.

01

No border.

The Netherlands and France both belong to the European Union: no customs formalities. The car travels with its registration certificate and keeps its Dutch plates. From Amsterdam as from Friesland, the process is the same.

02

Shipping your car.

Transport is arranged on request, there and back. The terms are set out in writing before each departure.

A car that no longer runs is loaded accordingly: simply mention it in your request.

03

Forty years, and beyond.

In the Netherlands, a car more than forty years old is, as a rule, exempt from road tax, the motorrijtuigenbelasting. The exemption depends on the car’s age: the exact rules are those of the Belastingdienst.

For a car crossing that line, a restoration opens a second life, provided it respects what the car once was.

04

Damp and metal.

In a damp climate, metal works in silence. Only a bare bodyshell tells the truth.

On the 1989 Porsche 930 Turbo Cabriolet, cabin, front luggage compartment and wheel arches were stripped to bare metal, then put right in the metalwork before any paint.

For the winter, the car can also stay at the workshop in storage, and leave prepared for the season. See our answers on winter storage.

05

The standard of finish.

Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar or Ferrari, classic or modern: each car is welcomed for the craft it calls for, from mechanics to upholstery.

The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL shown at the workshop gives an idea: an engine bay clean down to the air filter, red leather interior, ivory steering wheel, chrome and whitewall tyres.

06

From afar.

The quote starts from your photographs and videos, then is confirmed once the car has been inspected at the workshop. Conversations are in English or French, directly with the owner of the workshop.

Photographs of every stage, a detailed invoice on return: you follow the work without travelling.

Your questions

Does the car keep its Dutch registration?

Yes. It travels with its registration certificate and returns with its plates, with no customs formalities.

Does the work affect the road tax exemption?

As a rule the exemption depends on the car’s age, not on the work. For your particular case, the Belastingdienst is the authority.

Can I follow the work without coming?

Yes. Photographs of every stage, a direct conversation by phone or on WhatsApp, in English or French. The invoice details every task.

Can the car spend the winter in Mougins?

Yes. Storage and seasonal preparation are offered at the workshop; the car leaves ready for the season, with or without work in the meantime.
