01

Within the Union.

Between Germany and France goods move freely: no customs formalities. The car travels with its registration certificate and keeps its German plates.

02

Shipping your car.

From Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg or the Rhineland, transport is arranged on request, there and back. The terms are set out in writing before each departure.

03

The « H » plate.

In Germany, a car at least thirty years old can, as a rule, receive the H-Kennzeichen for historic vehicles. It requires an originality assessment under §23 StVZO, carried out by a body such as TÜV or DEKRA.

The expert judges original condition and state of preservation. A faithful restoration, in period colours and materials, presents itself naturally; the photographs of the work and the detailed invoice go with it.

If the car is intended for that assessment, say so at the quote stage: the choice of parts, colours and leathers follows from it.

04

Stuttgart, here too.

Porsche and Mercedes-Benz were both born in Stuttgart. Both are at home in the workshop.

A Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda regained its black lacquer here and an interior in cognac leather; a 220 SEb Cabriolet, its six-cylinder engine and Bosch mechanical injection, fully rebuilt. A silver 190 SL, red leather and ivory steering wheel, has been shown here.

On the Porsche side, the 1989 930 Turbo Cabriolet was restored from the bare bodyshell to its G50 gearbox, opened and rebuilt.

05

Followed in English or French.

The quote starts from your photographs and videos; it is confirmed once the car has been inspected at the workshop. Conversations are in English or French, directly with the owner of the workshop.

Photographs of every stage reach you as the work progresses. The detailed invoice joins the car’s file.

Your questions

Can a restoration prepare a car for the H-Kennzeichen assessment?

A restoration faithful to the original works in favour of the assessment. The decision rests with the expert from TÜV, DEKRA or another approved body; the photographs of the work and the detailed invoice inform it.

Does the car need re-registering after the work?

No. The car keeps its German plates and travels with its registration certificate, with no customs formalities.

Do you also work on modern Porsche and Mercedes?

Yes. Servicing, mechanics, bodywork or upholstery: a latest-generation 911 or a Mercedes-AMG receives the same care as a classic.

How does the return to Germany work?

The return is arranged like the outward journey, on request, to the agreed address. The detailed invoice and the photographs of the work travel with the car.
